How to work with NIS no server available error

Sometimes NIS client can not communicate with NIS master server or NIS slave servers. NIS client show message “No server available”. Below is tips to work with this problem.

1. Check network connection between NIS client and NIS servers.
2. Check /var/yp/binding/domainname/ypservers. This file should contain lists of NIS servers. If no NIS servers listed, type ypinit -c command to list your NIS server again.
   # ypinit -c
3. Check that NIS servers listed on /var/yp/binding/domainname/ypservers are operational or not. You may add new NIS server.
4. Check that NIS servers listed on ypservers file is also listed on /etc/hosts.
