How to configure IP address

You can use basic simple tips below to configure your host IP address. In this example you set an intel network interface (e1000g) IP address to 172.16.31.242 with subnet 255.255.252.0

1. Modify /etc/inet/hosts and /etc/inet/ipnodes and insert following record.
   172.16.31.242 solaris-sunray
2. Modify /etc/hostname.e1000g0 and input hostname
   solaris-sunray
3. Modify /etc/inet/netmasks and input netwrok address and netmask address.
   172.16.28.0 255.255.252.0
4. Set the IP address
   root@solaris-sunray # ifconfig e1000g0 solaris-sunray netmask + broadcast + up

     root@solaris-sunray # ifconfig -a

     lo0:  
     flags=2001000849<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4,VIRTUAL> mtu 8232  

     index 1

            inet 127.0.0.1 netmask ff000000

     e1000g0: flags=1000843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4> mtu 1500 index 2

          inet 172.16.31.242 netmask fffffc00 broadcast 172.16.31.255
